First chose your location… or rather first choose the right Location Manager who will chose the right location not just for the way it looks but for the way it works: full consideration must always be given to what action is intended to be filmed and how it is intended to be shot.  All too often locations are chosen without the benefit of a Location Manager’s advice and without sufficient time to set the location up properly with the result that the eventual shoot is compromised.

With the right choice of location a lot can be achieved given enough time.  The FiLM Office enabled the filming of a bank robbery on the edge of the City of London during the working week.  Shots were to be fired and the Metropolitan police were concerned about the consequences should anyone  think it a real event. The FiLM Office set up a protocol to manage the shoot which not only satisfied Scotland Yard but has been since quoted by them as the way to manage such shoots in future.
